Does the new Dyson Airblade V HU02 hand dryer bring anything new or improved to the hand dryer market?

It certainly does.  It remains one of the fastest drying hand dryers on the market yet, as you will read, has made great improvements in its sound level, energy efficiency and method of install.  The Dyson Airblade V HU02 allows both hands to be dried independently which gives consistent drying performance as hands can be spread. However, the hands still need to be turned. So although it is not as effective as the dual blade types such as the original Dyson Airblade AB14, D-flow, Stealthforce PLUS and Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel, it still gives outstanding hand drying performance in the hands under category, literally scraping the moisture off the hands

We have shown in our independent testing that most dual blade hand dryers are more effective than hands under hand dryers but the Dyson Airblade V HU02 (not tested as yet) would be expected to be among one of the best due to its ultra-high speed airflow. Our initial impression (without putting through independent testing) is that the Dyson Airblade V HU02 is among the top two or three high speed “hands under” hand dryers in terms of dry speed, along with the TurboForce and eXtremeAir GXT hand dryers.

The Dyson Airblade V HU02 is very compact, it is just 10cm in depth! This means that it is suitable for locations where space is at a premium, as well as areas where disabled users may need better access. It is easier and quicker to install than its Airblade AB14 counterpart and is of course less expense than this too. Another plus of the V blade over the original Airblade is that some people don't like putting their hands into hand dryers where they can potentially touch any parts used by strangers, so those users will be happier.  With regards the installation, one of this hand dryer’s main features is its easy mount back-plate.  This allows the back plate to be installed and wired up separately, leaving no exposed electrical wires, whilst the rest of the unit can be taken on or off the back plate with ease; with no expertise required.

This is great for 2 reasons:

  1.        The back plate can be fixed and renovations completed without having to worry about damaging the main unit with paint etc as this can be fixed afterwards with no further electrical work required.
  2.        If a fault should occur, the main unit can easily be detached without the need to remove the whole unit from the electrical supply.  The back plate stays in
place and no electrical wires are exposed.

The Dyson Airblade V AB08 is certainly not the quietest hand dryer on the market but the new Dyson Airblade V HU02 has stepped up to the plate and got itself accredited by the highly regarded Quiet Mark, and joins a very distinguished list of hand dryers.  This edition is 35% quieter than its predecessor and certainly has a very noticeable decrease in sound level when in use.  Dyson have used their research and development team to good effect and changed a number of things to make this noise reduction happen.

This includes:

  •          Redesigning the impeller and inner diffuser to make it more aerodynamic.  This enables the airflow paths to be optimised for sound
  •          The digital motor V4 has been reprogrammed to draw less air through the machine, which in turn reduces the noise from turbulence.
  •          The air flow slots have been reduced from 0.8mm to 0.55mm which reduces the overall noise level but still maintains the all-important air velocity of 430mph needed for quick hand drying.

This has reduced the overall rated power to just 1kW which will have a massive improvement on the energy efficiency of the Dyson V.  This has decreased the dry time slightly compared to the old model (by just 2 seconds) but allows for a very energy efficient dry.  It certainly now puts it up there with the best high speed, energy efficient hand dryers on the market.

The Dyson Airblade V HU02 maintains its extra hygienic features by keeping the glass fibre and fleece HEPA filter that captures 99.9% of air particles sucked into the machine.  The covers also contain antibacterial additives in the paint and plastic to help prevent the growth of bacteria.  This highlights this hand dryer has gone the extra mile to aid hygienic hand drying.

No doubt the new Dyson Airblade V HU02 will do well, based on the success of its predecessor and the excellent updates.  The Dyson Airblade V HU02 is innovative in terms of its unique airflow and new features and with such a company’s involvement, will only continue to improve.
