This rating is based on the watt hours per dry of the hand dryer which is derived from the rated power and the time taken to dry the hands. We have used the figures based on either the manufacturer’s dry time, if yet to be in house tested or based on the in house testing dry time we have conducted. This will also be based on the most energy efficient setting, if the hand dryer is adjustable for speed and/or heat.

This rating is based on the manufacturers stated sound level, usually at 1m. Hand dryers are a hygienic method of drying the hands. The better the dry, the less the risk of carrying germs on wet hands. Some hand dryers however have gone that little bit further to enhance the hygienic aspects of the hand dryer. These ratings are based on these extra factors that have been added to aid the hygienic properties. These ratings are based on an added together scoring system where the higher the rating the more enhanced the hygienic properties of the hand dryer. Cold Plasma Clean (CPC) is the most advanced hygienic property on the market and scores a maximum of 5 stars.

The Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel 'blade' style hand dryer has a lot going for it. The Jet Towel is about 3 to 4 seconds slower than the ultra-fast Dyson Airblade, however it is a comparatively quiet hand dryer, emitting 6 times less noise output at 58db than the Airblade. The Mitsubish hand dryer also has a very effective and easy to service drainage system that makes sure floors stay clean and safe. In addition, the Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel hand dryer uses only 45% of the energy that the Dyson Airblade uses, making it cheaper to run and more environmentally friendly. The other advantage of the Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel over the Airblade is its accessibility for children and the wheelchair users.
An even lower energy alternative is the D-Flow, however this is a little louder. If your budget doesn't really extend to any of these the JetForce 'blade' and the StealthForce PLUS 'blade' hand dryers may be a good option.

There are a few points to consider when choosing a hand dryer with disabled users in mind. These include:
- Wheelchair access with regard to users being able to position their hands correctly
- The amount of moisture that will be left on the floor after drying if units are to be used by people physically impaired
- The noise level of some high speed hand dryers may be too loud for some users, such as users with autism, multiple sclerosis etc.
Disabled areas often double up as baby changing facilities, so considerations include leaving extra space for double buggies, noise levels for children etc.

The above manufacturer stated dry time is based on the Turbo setting with heated airflow; they state that their unheated version (eco mode without heat only) has a dry time of around 15 seconds. The unheated version can be viewed by clicking here. Therefore in eco mode this would be the expected dry time.
Independent testing showed that the Jet Towel in Turbo mode with heat achieved a 94.6% moisture reduction in 15 seconds on average, so slightly slower than the stated manufacturer dry time but still a quick dry nonetheless.
This innovative design produces a large volume of air at speeds of 234 mph whilst generating very little sound in Turbo mode.

The above manufacturer rating range is based on their reported dry time of 11 seconds in Turbo mode with heat added to the airflow and the reported dry time of 15 seconds based on their unheated version (eco mode without heat only) which can be seen by clicking here. As you will see this shows a very energy efficient dry time when compared to a standard conventional hand dryer.
The independent testing above was conducted with the hand dryer in Turbo mode with heat added to the airflow. As you will see, the independent testing Watts per dry is increased compared to the manufacturer rating. This is due to the tests concluding that the dry time of the Jet Towel on maximum settings is around 15 seconds.

So how long will this dryer last?
Hand dryers can have 2 types of motor which are:
- A digital brushless motor
- A universal brush motor
In theory, universal brush motors do not last as long as digital brushless motors and require the brushes to be changed periodically. They also vary in their lifespan. Digital motors however do cost more to repair should they fail at any point. There are variations in the lifespans of both universal brushed motors and digital motors.
The best way to choose what is right for you is to look at your facility and the amount of use each hand dryer is expected to get. This way it can be determined if a brushed motor hand dryer would be most suitable for you or whether investing in a digital brushless motor would be more cost effective.

The JetTowel has received the “Quiet Mark” status accolade.
As can be seen, the manufacturer stated noise level makes this hand dryer one of the quietest on the market, even at Turbo setting. As can be seen from the independent testing however, even in a sound proof chamber there is a considerable rise than the promoted values. When the hands are placed inside the hand dryer this again increases the noise level further. That said this is still quieter than other well-known brands on the market and not the loudest out there, for sure.
It is worth noting that each 10dbA rise in noise equates to a doubling in sound levels.
It is worth noting that if your noise concern relates to the noise carrying into different areas of the building then pitch will be just as relevant as sound output (loudness). Noise level testing was conducted at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and a leading independent testing facility.
We also provide in house video testing to demonstrate dry performance. This gives a visual demonstration in “real use” as opposed to using methodical scientific protocols. The approximate dry time using this method was set when no spots of water could be seen on a paper towel after drying the hands. This is over and above what is required to be classed as a “hygienic dry” which requires 95% of the hands to be dry after using the dryer.
