With the present momentum to demand change to how women are heard and treated there is no better time to ask the government to look after something that while important to everyone in Australia gives positive advantage to women. Public Toilets. 

We have long advocated for improvements on Public Toilets. In 2019 we wrote a blog on public toilets at freeway service stations. We ended that blog with the following pointers

You can further enhance the experience of each public toilet user and maximise satisfaction by:

•                  Providing coat hooks on every cubicle door
•                  Providing disposable toilet seat covers
•                  Installing sensor taps
•                  Providing automatic hand dryers
•                  Providing touchless paper towel dispenser
•                  Installing foot operated waste bins
•                  Installing automatic main doors, or flip doors

In that same year we also wrote about Public toilet anxiety with interesting solutions gathered from experiences in different countries.

Now we have found a story on ABC news under the title “Public toilet expert creates blueprint for how Australia can improve loo management” written by Lucy Stone. The article was based on  “We Need to Talk About Public Toilets”.

Katherine Webber, Social planning researcher is a “Loo” expert and is pushing for change that could forever improve design, placement and management of Public Toilets. She is the recipient of a grant from The Churchill Fellowship that enabled her to come up with a National Public Toilet Policy proposal.
